Its your important file and you don’t want anyone to access it except your permission. for that you protected it with password. But what if you forgot the password? a disaster can happen.
Basically there are 2 types of protections provided to PDF file. The owner of that file can either restrict you from opening or he can restrict you from copying, printing file.
Copying/ Printing restrictions:
If you want to print few pages from PDF file, but the document id not allowing you.open the document using any PDF reader and capture pages as image using any screen capture software. such as SnagIt.Its very useful for multiple pages.
if you want to copy some portion of text from that PDF then use any screen capture tool with OCR capabilities. like kleptomania.
Alternatively, you can go for commercial solutions like Advanced PDF Password Recovery from elcomsoft.com and PDF Password Remover from verypdf.com. These utilities may not recover the password for you – they’ll just remove the restrictions from the password protected file.
Document opening restrictions:
its tricky, there is no straight forward solution to read password protected PDF files. The software will use methods like Brute Force, Key Search and Dictionary Attack to guess the password. They will try to use all possible character combinations as the password and so the process might take hours or even days and would really depend on your computer’s processing power.
Advanced PDF Password Recovery Professional edition from ElcomSoft is a recommended option. When (if) the password is found, the program shows it, as well as the number of passwords which have been tested, and the program speed.
